# Invites Anyone aged 19 or older can [[Getting Started/How to Join|join Wusoup]] without an invite. Invites are an optional way for existing members to help friends find Wusoup and vouch for them. By sharing an invite with someone, you **vouch for them**: - You'll be connected automatically when they join. - You'll inherit karma based on their community standing. - If they break the [[About/Standards|Community Standards]], it can affect your karma too. The idea is to encourage members to be discerning with who they invite, and maybe check in with the person _before_ inviting them - to see if they're on board with Wusoup's unusual [[About/Mission|mission]]. ## Giving invites Open **Invite a friend** from your profile menu to get a single-use invite link, then share it with your friend. Each link lasts for about 60 days. Your email address must be verified before you can create invite links. To prevent abuse, the number of links you can create is rate-limited.
