Blocking#
If someone is bothering you but not explicitly breaking the Community Rules, you can downvote and/or block them.
When you block someone:
- The chat is removed from your chats list, and anything they write will never reach you - no chat updates, notifications, or email alerts.
- Their profile will be hidden from you while browsing the community.
- You will appear offline to them.
- Blocking also counts as a "don't recommend" rating.
ℹ️Blocking doesn't prevent messages
Blocking someone does not prevent them from seeing your profile or from writing you. They won't know they've been blocked. To them it'll just seem like you've gone quiet - their messages stay unread, and you appear offline. This is usually best to discourage possible escalation (creating additional accounts, etc.).
ℹ️Notes
- Blocking automatically unpins and unmutes the user. Unblocking restores neither.
- If you have browser windows open on their profile or chat, these won't automatically be closed - but no new messages from them will arrive there either.
How to unblock someone#
Your blocked-users list is in your options screen, under Preferences. You can unblock directly from the list, or from the user's profile via the "…" (user actions) menu.
